Specific Treatments

I offer several evidence-based treatments, many included below. Together we will decide which treatment is best for you.

  • PE is one of the most effective treatments for PTSD currently available and is one of two cognitive behavioral treatments most recommended for the treatment of PTSD. In prolonged exposure you will learn to approach your trauma-related memories and situations gradually and safely. By talking through and processing the traumatic event repeatedly, along with practicing reengaging in activities you used to enjoy and have been avoiding. PE helps you integrate the traumatic experience and retrain your brain and body to respond differently to reminders and triggers. PE is comprised of 8-15 sessions that are 75 minutes each. CPT specifically addresses beliefs in the areas of safety, trust, power and control, esteem and intimacy. In CPT, by changing your beliefs, your feelings improve. To learn more, CLICK HERE

BA is a flexible treatment tailored to each individual, such that treatment courses range from 8 to 16 sessions lasting 50 minute each. To learn more, CLICK HERE

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is one of the most effective treatments for OCD. In ERP, you learn to confront uncomfortable thoughts and situations and to respond to them differently. You also learn to confront your fears in a graduated and individualized manner, slowly building confidence and skills. Over time, you reduce engaging in the compulsive or ritualistic behaviors that have become so imprisoning. Dr. Tart can safely guide you through this graduated treatment, which can vary in treatment length from 10 to 20 sessions lasting either 50 or 75 minutes each, depending on the need and target of treatment. • Item Major life changes and loss can cause intense feelings of sadness, anger, confusion, and anxiety. Life transitions that often inspire people to seek therapy include marriage, divorce, loss of a loved one, birth of children, children leaving the home, caregiving of elders, retirement, career changes, major illness or sudden disability. Dr. Tart provides a safe space to process these life changes and help you rediscover meaning and purpose. To learn more CLICK HERE.

  • Ketamine and other psychedelic substances (MDMA, psilocybin) are proving to be helpful in the treatment of many challenging mental health issues including treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, anxiety disorders, and chronic pain. Studies demonstrate repeatedly that the beneficial outcomes of these medicines depend on the inclusion of psychotherapy for lasting benefits. I completed certification and intensive clinical training in the delivery of psychedelic assisted psychotherapy. I can provide individual psychotherapy to those undergoing Ketamine infusions currently. As other treatments become FDA approved and available, I will offer preparation, psychotherapy, and integration work for those working with other medicines (e.g., MDMA, psilocybin).
